This summer, NUUR will sponsor a series of book studies to help people understand the emergence of legislation opposing the use of “Critical Race Theory” and the 1619 Project in schools. For information on this legislation in Missouri, click here: https://docs.google.com/…/1RNjE…/edit
For this study series, we will read together the book Critical Race Theory: An Introduction, by Richard Delgado, Jean Stefancic, and Angela P. Harris, as well as the 1619 Project itself, which was published in 2019 by the New York Times and the NYTMagazine.
If there is interest, we may also read some of the original articles that eventually have come to be called Critical Race Theory’s foundational writings.
The book is available at Neighborhood Reads for $21 plus tax. The 1619 project is available for free online.
The group will run three weeks, on Wednesdays, July 7, 14, and 21, at 6 p.m., in the back yard at Neighborhood Reads (so outdoors).
If there is enough interest, we could do an afternoon group as well.
